I am a retired librarian and a former newspaper reporter. Since retiring in June 2021, I have had both more time and more freedom to pursue my many interests through research and writing. These include:
- Local history in Brookline, Massachusetts, where I have been volunteer head of the historical society since 2009
- Word and phrase origins
- Baseball history (including baseball terminology)
- Wikipedia editing and article creation (on these and other topics)
- and blog posts on assorted, miscellaneous, random things that catch my interest
After 29 years as a librarian at a number of different organizations, I retired as Head of Liaison & Instruction Services at the Boston University Libraries in June 2021. I had previously worked as a librarian at Boston College, the Harvard Business School, the Boston Public Library, Associated Grantmakers (now Philanthropy Massachusetts), and Springshare, a library software company.
Before becoming a librarian, I worked as a newspaper reporter and a public relations specialist.
